cast by Barbedienne, late 19th century; bronze with brown and gilt patination, on black marble plinths; each signed in casting and with Barbedienne foundry mark; each modeled as an Antique-style maiden Bronzes: 76 x 16 x 15 in. (193 x 40.6 x 38.1 cm.), Plinths: 15 x 15 x 15 in. (38.1 x 38.1 x 38.1 cm.) Note: the present works are reductions of the original models exhibited by Barbedienne at the 1867 Exposition Universelle, and later came to be in the collections of the Chateau of Compiegne.
