Poe is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction.
One of Poes lesser-known works was The Murders in the Rue Morgue but has since been considered the first modern detective story. This 1895 edition was published by George Barrie as a facsimile of the original manuscript in the Drexel Institute.
