Description
Ancient Near East, Anatolia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A hand-carved, beige-hued stone stamp seal with a conical handle, a perforated suspension hole, and a broad stamp face incised with a highly stylized antelope. The petite creature stands atop 4 slender legs while peering forward with an enormous eye situated beneath a curving horn; a thin tail extends from the rump. Size: 0.77" L x 0.79" W x 0.8" H (2 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm)
Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s

Condition
Small chips around periphery of stamp face, with wear to suspension hole commensurate with use, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to antelope on stamp face.
