Description
France, a very attractive late 19th century three piece clock garniture, all in gilt brass with Sevres style, artist signed polychrome porcelain components with red bead borders, the clock case with reverse breakfront base on beaded toupie feet, the front with a central panel featuring two reclining putti, and the ends with music themed trophies, the cylindrical clock case with flanking scroll, acanthus and floral festoon mounts, the front with central cartouche with flanking scrolls and floral garlands framing the beaded bezel and porcelain dial with roman numeral cartouches on a turquoise ground, and trophies representing love and agriculture, the case surmounted by a gilt and enamel ornamented covered urn, the top with flame finial, and sides with swan form handles, 8 day two train pendule de Paris movement striking the hours and half hour on a bell, together with a pair of candelabras with flame finials, supported by polychrome porcelain vases with gilt mounts and oval reserves with scenes featuring Venus and Cupid in landscapes, the reverse with floral arrangements, and resting on bases with ovolo corners and toupie feet, candelabra dimensions listed
Condition
very good, some gilding with localized losses and discoloration, cylindrical portion of clock case with minor tarnish and spotting, ceramics without damage, with the exception of the dial, which has a few minor flakes at the winding arbors, minor losses to red beads surrounding the various scenes, one candelabra lacking one ball and chain ornament, movement dirty and with staining, ticks and strikes, ACCESSORIES: Two Candelabras, Urn Cover, Eight Bobeches, Pendulum, circa 1880
