Description
American, last quarter 18th century. A Chippendale tall case clock in walnut with extensive bone inlay throughout, bonnet having a swan neck pediment with a central carved finial, the swan neck having dentil molding ending in bone inlaid rosettes, central plinth with fluer de lis inlaid design, festoon and diamond inlaid bonnet and door compliment the fruit paint decorated face highlighted with a moon phase, the case having a central inlaid tombstone pendulum door flanked by chamfered columns with bellflower inlay and lambs tongue ends, above central paneled base with fan inlaid corners, all rising on ogee bracket feet; ht. 104, wd. 20.5, dp. 12 inches. Overall good condition. Poplar secondary wood, bone inlay loss throughout. right bonnet side with molding loss, bone possibly a later embellishment.
