Condition
Frame : 29 1/4 x 41 1/2 inches.
Examination under UV shows an even varnish throughout with few areas of scattered loss to the varnish, but likely concealing certain issues. Possibly unlined and on the original stretchers, but they’re given how the canvas is secured to the stretcher, it’s possible there has been alterations in these areas. A visible 2” diameter patch a few inches up and to the left of the rear most sailing vessel that barely shows under UV, but is visible with the naked eye. Craquelure throughout, but less so along the fronts of the stretchers, which may suggest some overpainting in those areas. A yellowing to the surface of the painting throughout. The edge of the canvas and stretchers covered by a layer of duct tape.
