America, 19th century. An array of legal letters between Peter Neff of Cincinnati and local law firms regarding deeds, including that of William Bromwell Burnet. includes discussion of taxes, deeds, land, and more.

Peter Rudolph Neff (1832-1912) was an important member of the “Society of Religious Inquiry,” or as later changed and is commonly known today, the YMCA. During the Civil War, he was appointed as secretary of the Military Committee of Hamilton County, Ohio. He co-founded the Cincinnati College of Music in 1878, which he became the president of after the death of Colonel George W. Nichols in 1885.

William Bromwell Burnet (1854-1909) was the son of Staats G. Burnet, who served in the 15th Iowa General Assembly of 1874. He was educated at the State University of Iowa and practiced law in Cincinnati, O., and later in New York. He married Carrie, daughter of Peter Rudolph Neff in 1882.
