NORWEGIAN PLIQUE-A-JOUR ENAMELED GILT STERLING SILVER OPEN SALT, Viking ship form having solid well and double dragon heads, featuring a plique-a-jour enameled rim. Impressed to base with "MH" maker's mark for Marius Hammer of Bergen, Norway in addition to "925S" fineness mark. Total weight including enamel: 0.700 ozt. Together with two silver Viking ship form open salts, comprising one 0.830 silver by an unidentified Norwegian maker having unoriginal ill-fitting colorless liner, and an unmarked silver example with colorless glass liner having cut rim, total weight of 1.320 ozt. excluding glass liners. Three pieces total. Late 19th/first quarter 20th century. Marius Hammer example 1 1/4" HOA, 2 1/8" x 1 3/8" OA.

Condition
Marius Hammer in very good visual condition with minor wear, surface scratches, and nicks, enameling with scattered hairlines and possibly a few flakes, two spots of repairs and a loss to blue enamel in rim point; other two examples in very good overall condition with minor wear, surface scratches, and nicks, possibly one or a few minute dents; ill-fitting glass liner with likely post-production polishing to edge of rim, glass liners otherwise undamaged.
