An antique double-sided Japanese "Kanban" signboard for an apothecary or physician's business, possibly a specialized doctor focused in head and throat illnesses. The front shows the name of the business with a carved side profile of a man's head, a red seal centered at the top with beautifully painted and detailed characters. The reverse side features more gilt characters, with the bottom left side showing the red 'reign mark'. Possibly from Osaka? Iron handles at either side, one at the top. Piece measures 17 3/4" across, 56 1/2" tall. *note - one of the iron handles is loose and held in with pins
