Poster for a Volcano & Reptile Show benefit at Arleen Schloss' A's with performances by Ann Sargent Wooster, Eric Schmidt, Steve Larson. Music by Art Band, Bonton, G. Lindahl, Tin Violin, Desi Desi Desi, Slomonoff & Von Hoffmannstahl and DJs Katie Berlin and Franz Walsch. Film events by Martin Abraham, Phyllis Bulkin, Karen Kent and a screening of the 1968 Godzilla movie, Destroy All Monsters, directed by Ishir? Honda.
A's was started by Arleen Schloss in 1979 at her 330 Broome St loft and played host to dance, music, and performance art on Wednesday nights by many downtown artists. During the weekends the venue would be converted into a functioning gallery offering space for artists to exhibit visual works.
