West Africa, Nigeria, Yoruba culture, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A carved ebony wood statue of a man riding a bicycle, dressed in Western / European style clothing, and the hardwood is highly polished to a glossy and reflective surface. Perhaps the artist created this as a critique, parody, or simply an observation of the changing culture under colonial rule. Size: 5.5" L x 3" W x 11" H (14 cm x 7.6 cm x 27.9 cm)
