Louis-Desire Veron was a 19th-century French businessman who is best remembered for serving as the manager of the Paris Opera in the 1830s. During his time at the Paris Opera, Veron wanted to curate the performances to what he envisioned the bourgeois most wanted from the stage. Much of this is described in his Memoirs which proved to provide an accurate portrayal of Veron’s life and the bourgeois lifestyle in 19th-century Paris.
