Description
The Russian perfume "The Stone Flower" was created in 1955 by Pavel Ivanov and Valentina Gribanova for the New Dawn perfume factory in Moscow. It is a woody spicy fragrance for women, with top notes of marigold, bergamot, oregano, sage, and thyme, middle notes of musk, sandalwood, and iris, and base notes of oakmoss, honey, birch tar, and leather. The perfume was inspired by the folktale of the same name, collected and reworked by Pavel Bazhov. The Stone Flower perfume was a huge success in the Soviet Union, and it remains popular today. It is known for its rich, complex scent and its beautiful packaging. The original perfume bottles were made of crystal and shaped like stylized flowers. The presentation boxes were also quite elaborate, made of green marbled cardstock and decorated with gold foil.In 1958, The Stone Flower perfume won a Grand Prix medal at the Brussels industrial exhibition. It was also a favorite of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who received a bottle as a gift from Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev. The Stone Flower perfume is a true icon of Russian perfumery. It is a fragrance that is both timeless and modern, and it continues to capture the imagination of wearers around the world. The number of fluid ounces in the title or description reflects the capacity of the bottle prior to use or evaporation. Perfumes and powders may not smell the same as they did when they were first created due to chemical changes over time and exposure to light and air.
