Description
Three landscapes with buildings, gouache, pastel and pencil on paper, two of them signed, the oval one is not. One is of la Ferrette, one is titled "House of 'el Greco'" and dated for 1928, the last is not titled.
George Wharton Edwards was born in Fair Haven, Connecticut, in 1859, and died in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1950. He was a painter and author of books regarding American history and European customs. He lived in Paris prior to 1892, New York City (1892-1902); Plainfield, New Jersey; and Greenwich, Connecticut; and was known for his unique handling of impressionism and for his marine paintings of fishermen, lobstermen and boats along the Monhegan shoreline.
Dimensions: La Ferrette: sight is 16 1/2" x 11 1/2", the frame 25 1/4" x 20", el Greco: sight is 11" x 17", the frame 12" x 17 3/4", the untitled: sight is 13 1/2" x 10", the frame 18 1/2" x 15 1/2"
Condition
All appear to be in good condition, not examined out of the frames.
