Item Details
Description
The rectangular box with hinged lid and canted corners is decorated en grisaille on the long narrow sides, similarly on the cover and back, but with delicate hues accenting the scene of cherubs depicting an allegory of spring on one side; fruits and foliage on the other. The vignettes are enclosed by tooled damascene cutting and simulations of lace in white enamel. No markings found. The weight is 72 grams.

Measures 3.25 x 2 inches.

Provenance: The Estate of a Lincoln, Nebraska Collector.

Condition
Very good condition, noting bits of enamel loss at the extreme tip of two corners on the top plaque. The lower right corner has a larger area of loss and possible repair, the area shows as white and at the extreme tip of the corner, copper can be seen. The issues are limited totally to the extreme end edges. The top also displays small shallow scratches. All other enamel portions are in very good to fine condition without issues of any type, no other chips, scratches or wear, no cracks, damage or other repair.Under certain light, the front plaque displays color contrast along the top edge and down the side edges (see image) that may be old and very well done professional repair. These areas appear untouched under natural light.
