A signed naval assignment by Gideon Welles and John A. Dahlgren. 1p of a bifolium, measuring 7.75" x 9.5", Washington, D.C., dated October 3, 1861. Signed "Gideon Welles" and "Jno A Dahlgren Comd". Addressed to James C. Williamson, directing him to proceed to Washington, D.C. and report to Commander Dahlgren for the command of the U.S. Brig "Perry". With flattened folds and toning at the edges and folds. Light wear. Boldly signed by both.
