Toronto, Ontario. Mid 20th century. Oil on canvas. A dramatic and effective painting on linoleum of the WWII French ship K42. The ship’s hull is painted jet-black against an aquamarine background. Flares and flames shoot across this very busy scene. The unsigned painting was found at a garage sale in Toronto in the mid-1990s. it was initially offered and sold by Peter Baker at the Bowmanville, Ontario show, along with two other similar paintings. The piece is unattributed and from the collection of P.S. Wilde Antiques, Toronto. 14.25" x 18".
