Antique Chinese Skirt, or Double Apron. Silk with silk and metal thread embroidery. Size: 40'' x 46'' (102 x 117 cm). A wedding skirt, or double apron, comprised of a pair of wide pleated panels worn facing front and back with additional narrow panels connecting them. The skirt wraps around the body, secured by a wide cotton waistband, marked London 1884, with attached woven ties. The cotton prevents the skirt from slipping down, while the skirt is made of silk. The front and back panels are identical and edged with embroidered black ribbon.
