A Victorian sterling silver and enamel novelty vesta case, London 1887 by John Aldwinckle and Thomas Slater of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by simple thumbpiece. The front with a painted white enamel en grisaille illustration from Punch, showing Mr Punch before an easel drawing his dog Toby, below reading ‘London No 9’. Gilt interior. Fully marked and part-marked. Length – 4.5 cm / 1.75 inches Weight – 33 grams / 1.06 ozt
