Description
C. 1940. Tom Bolland, London UK. The makers of these very popular UK games known as working models, used many themes, but it was the horrific and macabre themes that were by far the most popular. The names of these machines told it all, "Supper with the Devil," "Midnight in the Haunted Churchyard," "Murder in the Museum" and "The French Execution" all were very popular. There were several manufacturers and Boland came later to the production, utilizing old digger crane cases to house his mechanisms. This example, The Pharaoh, or Egypt, came in several names. When coin is inserted several movements are performed including motion of the beggar, opening of the floor revealing a jeweled claw, opening of a large door in background revealing a sphynx like jackal, a figure appears from hiding behind a pillar and the coffin opens and the mummy of the Pharaoh sits up. CONDITION: Showing an earlier restoration. The diorama is complete, the case is refinished wood with applied red accents. The machine is currently operative. A very unusual penny arcade piece and very mush a descendent from early penny arcade. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 25" x 21" x 73"
