Description
Approx. 220 cm high x 48.5 cm wide x 23 cm deep. Grandfather clock. England. Dial signed Thomas Stackhouse, London. Body with gilded pagoda. Depicting visitors in a Chinese garden surrounded by temples, landscapes, flowers and birds, decorated on a black ground. The domed 12-inch brass dial with silvered Roman numeral ring with outer Arabic five-minute divisions, cut centre with a corresponding silvered subsidiary seconds under XII. Date window under VI with openwork hands. Corners with scroll and urn spandrels. Signed gilt arch with gilt subdial in leaf-shaped holders. Four-column brass movement with lever escapement striking a bell, winding, case key, pendulum and twin weights. Signs of use due to age. Function not tested.
