This is an uncommon double hemisphere world map focusing on the geography and less on aesthetic decorations common at the time. It is one of the first to show all five Great Lakes, but not quite correctly; however, California is shown as an island. The map is similar to Sanson's 1651 edition but with more prominence given to marine and river features. Nouvelle Albion in the northwest part of North America as Terra de Iesso, and the Destr. d'Anian has been moved to just north of California. Australia is only partially shown, still marked Beach, and there is an outline of the southern continent labeled Terre Australe Magellanique et Incogneue.

Very Good. On watermarked laid paper. Slight staining and slight soiling, mostly in margins. Nice original hand-color.
