Corinthian 620-590 B.C. Clay, dark red matt glaze.
H. 3 55/64 in; 9.8 cm
A large siren takes up more than half of this vessel for perfume oil. She stands to right on her thin legs, turning her wide, outspread wings towards the viewer. Polos, head, breast, belly and a broad stripe on the wings accentuated in dark red; details incised in the clay. Reverse undecorated. Three rosettes in the interstices. Stripes on the strap handle. A frieze of dots and tongues on the shoulder and on the plate mouth. A rosette on the base.
A fairly large fragment of the plate mouth restored and retouched. Body of the vessel intact.
