Description
Canadian. Picton, Ontario. Salt-glazed stoneware. A two-gallon straight-sided storage crock with lug handles decorated with a whimsical flower and a stylized number "2" in dark cobalt blue. Samuel Skinner was the second in a succession of potters to operate the business in Picton in Prince Edward County originally founded by William Hart in 1849. Stamped, "S. Skinner & Co / Picton C.W." 11" x 9". From the Leigh Moore and late Wendy Daxon Collection.
Condition
A very small hairline crack and void are evident on the inner rim towards the back.
