Description
1917 Adventures of Tom Sawyer Twain Huck Finn Riverboat American Illustrated
This first edition of one of the most-recognizable American novels, Mark Twains Adventures of Tom Sawyer. – the first novel Twain wrote entirely by himself (MacDonnell). The opportunity to own a first edition of any Twain is uncommon, but Tom Sawyer is the high-spot in many collectors libraries. Huckleberry Finn also has the same appeal, but Tom Sawyer does not carry the controversy like Finn does.
By the time Mark Twain had passed away, Tom Sawyer had gained some much fame and prominence that it was without-a-doubt his most successful and top-selling book. This was a true boys book, and surviving copies are proof of how rough little boys can be on books (MacDonnell, 40).
This undated edition includes a rare decorative hardcover binding with 16 illustrations throughout!
