"Robbie, a "Tiny Tim" type character, finds much needed self-confidence in his friendship with a horse who has been written off as past her prime. The story unfolds slowly, and Robbie's disability is never fully explained but rather alluded to as a reason for some of his actions and limitations. This allows us to enter his world rather than to be told about it. That's what makes this a gem of a novel, and what makes it a timeless tale. It's a coming of age story which will touch your heart."
"Robin is a young boy who lives with his parents and 2 much older brothers on a ranch in the West. He has a bad heart and his activities are VERY limited. His brothers are real cowboys. Magic, the golden mare, is the horse that everyone has learned to ride on. By the time Robin is allow to ride alone, Magic is a very, very old trustworthy horse. They have some adventures.
