Description
1863 J L Bode Birdstuffer Civil War Token
This is a copper store token from New York, 1863. During the Civil War, coins were in short supply so many companies and stores minted their own one and two cent coins. After the war, this was outlawed so these coins are not very common. This particular coin is from a taxidermist shop on the obverse "J L Bode Birdstuffer", and a glassworks on the reverse "Bohemian Fancy Glasswork".
This coin is in very good condition for its age, with many fine details like the fur on the deer still visible. The main wear is some marks on the edge around the coin, and the center of the reverse where the center of the coin has been partially rubbed away.
Approximate size: 1" x 1" x 0.6"
Approximate weight: 0.2 oz
