The oil on canvas of oval format depicting five English Foxhounds set in a bucolic English wooded landscape with hills in the distance. Signed and dated lower right "J N Sartorius Pinxt 1786" Fine antique gilt carved frame. Reverse with labels of Mrs. W. C. Robinson Jr. "Far Away Farm Sewickley, Pennsylvania & "The Sporting Gallery Bookshop 38 East 52nd St NY. 33" X 38" Frame 43" x 49" Mr. William C. Robinson Jr was master of foxhounds at the Sewickley Hunt Club and also was owner of the horse farms: "Far Away Farm" Sewickley PA and "Lanes End" in Versailles Kentucky. His wife Mary Laughlin Robinson was also an accomplished equestrian.
