Description
Late 19th or early 20th Century advertising sign for J. N. Adam & Co. of Buffalo, New York. Curled edges with a central panel titled "Beauty and the Beast" depicting a woman with a bulldog. Opened in 1881 by James Noble Adam, the store sat across the street from his brother's department store. This arrangement was intentional as his brother Robert Borthwick knew a competitor was going to move into the space and he preferred to have James there instead. J. N. went on to become a mayor of Buffalo and took his civic duty seriously, even going so far as to purchase and donate land for a local Tuberculosis Hospital. Approx. 14-1/2" square. This item can be shipped in-house.
