Seidenhemdchen stark gebräunt u. z.T. eingerissen. S. 49 mit Einriss. Einige Blätter mit winzigen Löchern in weißem Rand. Stellenweise sehr leicht braun- bzw. fingerfleckig. - Großzügiger und breitrandiger Druck auf festem Vélinpapier.
With 1 engraved bust figure of P. Didot in medallion and 6 (of 9) copper plates after Gérard. - Splendid edition of this Renaissance translation of the ancient classic. The first edition was published in 1559. The three plates by Prudhon are missing. - Contemporary half calf with glit title and gilt tooling to the spine, fillets (rubbed, corners somewhat bumped and shaved, lower edge of the spine with small missing part, spine partly detached). Tissue guards heavily browned and partly torn. P. 49 with tear. Some leaves with tiny holes to the white margin. In some places slightly browned or fingerstained. - Wonderful print with wide margins on strong vélin paper.
