Antique Victorian 'Beyer & Bock' serving double platter centerpiece decorated with roses; "Prussia Royal Rudolstadt" porcelain mark, Germany. This mark was applied 1905 through the early 1920s.
This double platter is one molded porcelain piece [these are not two pieces attached together]; the bottom plate is 10" [25.4cm] across; the top plate 4.1/4" [10.8cm] across; 2.5" [6.4cm] tall. There is some wear of the gold rim on both platters [gold rim is almost gone: see photos]; no chips or cracks, no repairs, very good condition.
Beyer & Bock founded their Volkstedt-Rudolstadt porcelain factory in 1890. Already in 1903, the factory employed 230 workers. Beyer & Bock products were highly regarded for their quality and were exported to Scandinavia and Holland, as well as to Italy, England, North and South America. After the WWII, the state of Thuringia became the part of East Germany. The Beyer & Bock Company was nationalized by the East German government in 1960.
