Description
DELFT vase. Holland, 20th century.
Porcelain.
With signature on the base.
Measurements: 31 cm (height).
The name "Delft porcelain" derives from the artistic sophistication of the tin-glazed pottery made in the city of Delft, in the Netherlands, which from the 18th century onwards was also produced in London and Bristol, among other cities. The four dishes have the seat and rim decorated in Delft blue with floral compositions set in fine fretwork.
Delft ware, also known as Delft Blue (Dutch: Delfts blauw), is a general term used for Dutch tin-glazed earthenware, mostly blue and white ware. The city of Delft, located in the Netherlands, was the main centre of production, but the term covers wares with other colours and made elsewhere.
