Description
A late Victorian silver cigarette case, having oblique gadrooned design surrounding circular panel, hallmarked William Neale & Sons, Chester 1888. Together with two George V examples, having similar, scroll engraved decoration, hallmarked Joseph Gloster Ltd, Birmingham 1912 and 1924. Approx. length of all 3.25" (8.2cm), gross weight 5.46 ozt (170 grams). (3)
Condition Report:- Items show general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
- Gadrooned example shows dark tarnishing to recesses of decoration.
- Gadrooned example is missing elasticated band to interior.
- George V example with scroll motif to edge appears slightly bashed and uneven to front hinge.
- Push locks are in good working order to all items, slightly stiff to George V with scroll motif to edge.
- George V example with shield to centre has elasticated band to centre that appears taut.
- Hallmarks are clear and legible to all items.
