Made in Spain, "French Spahi In Action" (6) figures in (3) poses which are (2) attacking swordsman, (1) officer with raised sword, (3) Spahi mounted with swords, all but the officers wearing white headdresses and blue baggy trousers, officer in red kepi and cape; "Madhista Attacking-Sudan" (6) figures.
Larger box 2 1/2 x 14 x 6 1/2 in.
The Madhista wore patched and torn clothing to emphasize poverty. The Mahdist War was between the Mahdist Sudanese and the forces of the Khedivate of Egypt, initially, and later the forces of Britain.
