Description
A Thompson patent single piece frame with pinch pot marked FITCHBURG R. R. in ornate weathering on the lid. It has has FITCHBURG RR is smaller lettering on the skirt. This lantern does not have the 1869 patent on the bail or under the skirt. It does have a 5 digit serial number that is hard to read. It might be "12849". This model, like many Fitchburg's, had an applied globe retaining ring applied using 3 rivets. You can see this from the inside but somebody ground them off on the outside. It has a tin fount rather than glass. The nut that holds the lid in place works fine. There are some tiny, and I mean TINY pin holes in the lid. Too small to photograph. The globe is a 6" red flashed FRR with no panel. This lettering and no panel are standard. There are enough flea bites on the globe where you can see the clear and no red flashing. Displays very well.
