Description
A bright and graphic vintage Herman Miller Picnic 1999 poster titled "Croquet" designed by Kathy Stanton. Each year a poster was designed to commemorate the Herman Miller employee picnic. The first poster, designed in 1970, started this wonderful tradition until 2007. The posters have never been used as marketing tools for the company; instead of furniture, they featured items like ice cream cones, fruit, automobiles and clowns to illustrate the summer picnic themes. Several Summer Picnic posters are housed in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian. Per The Henry Ford Museum, "In 1990, Herman Miller graphic designer Kathy Stanton took over the reins from Steve Frykholm to design the poster for the furniture company's annual employee summer picnic. While Frykholm's picnic posters focused on the food at the picnic, Stanton's designs were inspired by the activities available to the employees and their families. Stanton would design 11 picnic posters, one each year until 2000." Dimensions: 25"w x 1.5"d x 39"h (framed). In very good vintage condition.
