THE KIBUNDŌ COMPANY
An Iron Tetsubin (Tea Kettle)
Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, late 19th/early 20th century
The body of the kettle with surface texture like that of tangerine skin, the handle lugs in the form of baby dragons, the bronze handle in the form of two facing dragon heads, the bronze lid with a crab-shaped knob, the body sealed Kibundō below the lug on the side opposite the spout, another illegible seal on the bottom of the body
With a wood box, the underside of the lid brushed Kibundō tsukuru and sealed Setsuka Biwako utō
3 7/8in (9.8cm) high, without lid or handle
