CONDITION: Few small paint losses. Very minor craquelure. No visible inpaint under UV light. Wear to frame.

BIOGRAPHY:
An American painter of landscapes and figure studies, Wilbur Crane was a student of both William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri in New York. A full member of New York's Salmagundi Club, Crane had a studio in Broadway and his home was in New Rochelle.Primarily an Impressionist, A. Wilbur Crane exhibited his paintings in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and elsewhere from approximately 1900 to his demise in 1934.Some sources have erroneously listed two separate artists, 'Wilbur Crane' and 'A. Wilbur Crane', with the painter residing in New Rochelle as 'Wilbur Crane'. Yet they are, in fact, one and the same.
