Description
A pair of vintage Japanese Takaoka Ware mixed metals ancestor sameri figurines by metallurgist and artist Koshii Eizan (fl. circa 1920s to 1930s). A matched figural group depicted male and female figures modeled wearing traditional Japanese costume, and holding separate, detachable implements. Includes: one (1) male figure holding rake farming tool (9.5" x 3.25" x 2.25"); and one (1) female figure holding a broom (8.75" x 4" x 3.5"). Artist signature with relief Japanese characters in rectangular reserve to lower verso of male figure. The artist was active in the late Taisho and early Showa eras (circa 1920s to 1930s).
Condition: Good overall condition having mild age related surface wear. Estate fresh to the market.
