Description
A fine and large cylinder musical box attributed to Nicole Freres, Swiss, late 19th century, serial number 842, the 55cm cylinder with stop/play selector marked 'Nicol ... Geneve', playing on two combs with zither attachment, 12 bells, drum and castanet, twin motors, contained within a varnished carved panel hardwood case (possibly later), set on a later table base with cabriole legs and frieze drawer 183cm wide
Condition
Winds and plays several tunes, but no real clue as to what they are; has no tune label or indicator. Bellows working but sounds out-of-tune. The case is quite modern; we suspect the whole thing has been restored and rebuilt into the current case. Table made to match the case.
