Description
A LOUIS XVI STYLE GILTWOOD SALON SETTEE, FRENCH, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the arched back flanked by two acanthus leaf-clad finials over a ribbon twist and bead chain carved molding to a peaked rectangular upholstered cushioned back within arms continuing the twisted rod-and-ribbon motif to stuffed and upholstered armrests ending in leaf-clad scrolled hand terminals on leafy swan neck form supports flanking a bombé front and sides rectangular bench seat with ribbon-and-rod carved rails joined by block and florets on turned tapered stop fluted legs, raised on toupie feet to French toes, now in modern Aubusson style machine embroidered cream ground upholstery with beribboned peacock feather and flower bouquet pattern with nailhead trim. Height: 39" Width: 54 1/4" Depth: 24"
