Description
This smaller rendition is of "Le Sacre de Napoleon", after Jacques-Louis David, who was the official painter of Napoleon Bonaparte. The painting depicts the coronation of Napoleon and Josephine at the Notre-Dame de Paris. It has a brass plate that reads "Le Sacre, 1804". The work is housed in a newer gilt frame with a green suede and wooden ormolu border. The work is cracked at its bottom left-hand corner, has light to moderate paint loss (specifically red paint), and a chip to the protective glass covering.
