Description
STAMPED "ANDERSON & PEDIN / SMITHFIELD VA" VIRGINIA MERCHANT'S DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt-glazed, "1" gallon capacity mark, ovoid form with rounded rim, beaded neck ring, incised shoulder ring, and applied strap handle. Stamp framed by brushed cobalt foliate garland, vertical feathers flanking spout, additional cobalt to handle terminals and stamp. Attributed to the pottery of Peter Herrmann (1825-1901), Baltimore, MD. Circa 1875. 10 1/4" H, 4 5/8".Â
