ANTIQUE DECORATIVE LADY'S FOLDING HAND FANS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a Vernis Martin style polychrome brise example, probably French, one side depicting romantic figures in a landscape, the other side with a coastal scene featuring an oxen cart, boats, and figures, fitted in a custom conservation box; and a mourning example featuring a mother-of-pearl frame supporting black silk having white-lace floral decoration, in its original paper-covered pasteboard box with an inscription indicating that it was a gift brought back from Havana in 1872. 18th and 19th century. 8 1/2" and 9" L.

Brise example with several separations to the securing ribbon and minor paint losses to the decoration below the scenes;Â other example excellent with a minor tear to the back.Â
