Description
ENGLISH VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER WAX JACK, top fitted with a spring-tension holder having drip pan ends, raised on a rod shaft with screw-on finial, featuring a hexagonal base with reticulated center, feathered rim, a flying scroll handle, and three paw feet, currently holding a candle. One clip handle, side of shaft, and base with "H [pellet] A" maker's mark for Atkin Brothers of London and Sheffield utilized between 1858 and 1902, other clip handle and base with a lion passant hallmark for sterling fineness, side of shaft and base also with a partially worn date mark of a Gothic letter possibly being possibly being "c" or "r", no city mark located, possibly being worn. Total weight including candle: 5.585 ozt. Third quarter 19th century. 5 1/2" HOA.

Condition
Very good visual condition with some wear, surface scratches, and nicks, one clip handle with a repair near center, possibly one or a few minor repairs to reticulated elements; candle with breaks to wax and other imperfections.
