Description
Two Japanese Porcelain Imari Bowls, probably 19th century in date, are formed to resemble blossoms with a tall foot and scalloped rims. Known as mukozuke, they were created for use in a tea ceremony kaiseki meal and would have been the first dishes served in the meal. Dragons in clouds are the predominate motifs on both bowls. Painted in cobalt blue, the design unites the interior and exterior with stylized cloud forms on the top of the interior. Blue markings define the petals to emphasize the blossom shape.
