Description
Japanese Porcelain Bowl: Suwa Sozan I, probably late 19th-early 20th century, is thinly potted out of pure white porcelain clay so it is egg-shell thin. The artist was an Imperial Household Artist; his work is in many museums including the Kyoto National Museum.. The bowl is inspired by Chinese monochromatic Ding porcelain made as early as the 8th-9th centuries. Similar to its influencers, this monochromatic bowl is decorated on the interior with molded fish swimming among waves. A silver band covers the unglazed rim. The bowl comes with the original tomobako with Teishitsu Gigei-In Stamp.
