Description
Japanese Lacquer Three Case Inro by Tsuchida Soetsu, late 18thc. Has four tiers held together by a purple cord. The black lacquer surface is embellished with sprinkled gold filings using the maki-e technique. One side boasts three dragon flies created in gold and silver and raden, mother-of-pearl inlay. The other side features two dragon flies-one in gold and the other created with raden, mother-of-pearl inlay. The Inro is signed and the artist customarily indicated his age at the time of the creation of the work.

Condition
Very good with age appropriate wear. Top of 3rd case with small chip, top of 4th case with tiny flake. Minor surface wear from age and use, more visible on darkest color dragonfly.
