Item Details

Description

Large Japanese Antique Nabeshima Charger is by Imaizumi Imaemon XIII (1926-2001). The artist was a living National Treasure who continued the highly admired techniques of the Nabeshima kiln, originally making porcelains for lords of the Nabeshima clan. The plate is boldly decorated with underglaze cobalt paintings of leaves and grasses. Overglaze enamels in red, turquoise and yellow create bold images of peonies and flowering plants that fill the interior of the charger. It is signed Imaemon in underglaze blue on the bottom of the charger.

Dimensions: D. 12"
