Description
This Boston and Maine Railroad color broadside advertisement was produced between 1867 and 1873. We know this due to extensive research we performed on the piece. The printers, Rand, Avery and Frye of Boston, were originally only Randy and Avery. The change was made in 1867. Railroad superintendent William Merritt served in his position starting in 1855, but resigned in 1873 after an accident forced him to retire. The Haymarket Square Depot was the main depot for the B&M during this time as well. This broadside has some tears and frays at the edges, and a tear from the top left to lower right has been repaired on the backside with tape. Even over 150 years later, it still retains its vibrant red, blue, and green hues. Measures 22 inches by 14 inches. Deserves to be matted and framed under UV protective glass. Amazing, rare, one-of-a-kind item that will be the highlight of a Boston and Maine collection!
